Oscar Haimo was Founder and President of the International Bar Managers' Association, which consisted of Le Barman de France, United Kingdom Bartenders Guild, and the I.B.M.A. in the United States, Ex-President of the International Barmen Association, as well as honorary member of may other bar associations, guilds, and schools throughout the worlsk. Hiamo used this guide to create an internationally recognized standard for bartending. In this informative annual guide to bartending, Hiamo provides details for the bar manager and barmen alike, as well as sections on The Problems of Alcohol, Bar utensils, The Drink Mixer's Commandments, the Basic Guide (for Barmen and Hosts), Glassware Chart, International Toasts and other standards and tips of the trade, as well as wine and spirits. The main content of the book, however, is the list of hundreds of alphabetized cocktail recipes interspersed with witty poems and illustrations by the author. This De Luxe hardcover edition is signed by Oscar Haimo on the front free endpaper, "Sincerely Oscar Hiamo". Originally published annually in 1943, this attractive edition is from 1960 and in fine condition.
